Job Summary:
The Truss Builder is responsible for the fabrication of wooden trusses used in construction projects. This role involves interpreting blueprints, selecting and cutting lumber, and assembling truss components using hand and power tools.
The Truss Builder ensures the accuracy and quality of the truss assemblies, adheres to safety guidelines, and collaborates with team members to meet production targets. This position requires precision, physical dexterity, and a commitment to producing reliable and structurally sound building components.

Essential Job Functions:
- Read and interpret shop drawings for truss fabrication.
- Select and gather necessary lumber and materials required for truss assembly.
- Use hand and power tools to cut, shape, and assemble wooden truss components according to specifications.
- Assemble truss components on production equipment by hammering connector plates into truss member.
- Ensure that assembled trusses meet quality and safety standards, making adjustments as necessary.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize workflow and meet production goals.
- Adhere to workplace safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a secure working environment.
- Inspect completed trusses to verify structural integrity and quality before they are sent for installation.
- Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition, reporting any maintenance needs as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding progress, issues, or concerns related to truss assembly.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Familiarity with different types of lumber and materials used in truss construction, including their properties and best uses.
- Skill in using a variety of hand and power tools, such as Hammers, saws, nail guns, drills, and measuring devices, to cut, shape, and assemble truss components.
- Ability to maintain precision and accuracy in measuring, cutting, and assembling truss components to ensure structural integrity and quality.
- Capability to perform tasks that require bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods, often in non-ergonomic positions.
- Capacity to work effectively as part of a team, communicating and coordinating with colleagues to achieve production goals.
- Dedication to ensuring that assembled trusses meet quality standards and specifications.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust to changing priorities and production demands.
Qualifications:
Education
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
