The County of Riverside's Waste Resources Department has multiple opportunities for a Truck Mechanic located in Moreno Valley. The Truck Mechanic will report to headquarters in Moreno Valley and will be assigned every morning on a service truck to other locations, including Beaumont, Blyth, Oasis & Idyllwild.
The incumbent will be tasked with conducting periodic inspections, diagnosing, and repairing (including rebuilds) of engines, transmissions, differentials, clutches, axles, steering gears, cooling systems, and other mechanical and electrical components on the Departmesn't fleet including small and medium vehicles, and heavy-duty trucks. Additionally, the selected candidate will perform tune-ups on fuel injection and ignition systems, as well as replace or adjust braking systems (hydraulic/vacuum), starters, and generators. comprehensive brake system repairs (air brake/hydraulic/vacuum) and BIT inspections.
Ideal candidates will have experience in CHP BIT inspections, fleet services (or a similar environment), and working with various engines and transmissions, including differentials, starters, alternators, hydraulic and air brake systems, clutches, axles, steering gears, suspension components, carburetors, fuel injection systems, cooling systems, air conditioning systems, and electrical systems. The department seeks candidates who are computer literate and have the ability to maintain vehicle records in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) standards.
Competitive candidates should possess the following qualifications:
ASE Certification.
Experience with Fleet Management Software. (CAT ET, Cummings In-Site, Detroit, etc.)
Computer literacy. (Microsoft Word, Excel, AssetWorks)
Welding and fabrication experience.
Natural Gas diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair experience.
The selected candidate will need to provide their own basic tools to fulfill the essential duties of the Truck Mechanic position.
The expected work schedule is 9/80, Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
