YOU
As a Truck Driver - Shipper/Receiver, you will be responsible for order processing, selection, moving, loading by hand, or powered industrial equipment and delivery to the local area Simpson Customers. Also responsible for pick-up, receiving and placement of goods from vendors into warehouse inventory. This position reports directly to the Department Manager and is supported by the department's Team Lead(s). This position works a Monday - Friday shift - 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with overtime as needed.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time)
Plans fastest and most efficient pick-up and delivery routes. Assist in all Utility operations by coordinating with department personnel to ensure proper delivery of components, materials and finished goods to designated areas by following both verbal and written instructions. Responsible for pulling of inventory for orders assigned for delivery as indicated above. Complete shipments using ERP system and/or tablet. Pull, package, and palletize products for shipment. Ensure incoming and outgoing shipments meet packaging, customer, and quality standards. Receive, stock, and rotate product. Identify, tag, store and locate finished inventory. (70%)
Create and apply documents, such as shipping labels, packing list, and bills of lading for each pallet/shipment. (15%)
Maintain a clean work environment. (15%)
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
If you can do everything listed above, you've got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license, with accident-free record, required.
  • Three (3) years accident-free driving experience, preferable with similar type trucks.
  • Simpson Strong-Tie Powered Industrial Truck Certification required (will certify at hire)
  • 1 year of warehouse, logistics, and/or shipping experience required.
  • Equipment: Operate forklift, reach truck, order picker, and electric pallet jack.
  • Safety: Ability to prioritize safety by demonstrating safe work practices and promoting a safe work environment.
  • Mathematical Reasoning: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to Work Independently: Follow both written and oral instructions, including safety guidelines, work instructions, and company policies.
  • Attendance: Able to consistently demonstrate reliable, punctual attendance in accordance with our attendance policy.
  • Communication Skills: Speak in the most effective way to relay information to all departments and at all levels within the organization. Listen and ask questions to ensure understanding.
  • Quality Standards Knowledge: Demonstrate an understanding of company quality standards and company quality control processes.
  • Problem Solving: Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work with other team members to accomplish group goals
  • Results Focus & Initiative: Ability to multitask and take initiative in a challenging, fast-paced environment.
  • Customer Service Skills: Apply customer service principles and processes on the job and with others.
  • Reading Comprehension: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment and needs to constantly position self to maintain the operation of equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Regularly work around moving mechanical parts. The noise level is loud. The job may risk exposure to dust, heat and/or cold, wet, or humid conditions.
TRAVEL REQUIRED
This job does not require travel.
WORK STATUS & LOCATION
This full-time, non-exempt position is located in Gallatin, TN.
RELOCATION
Relocation is not available for this position.
PAY
$18.70 - $20.00 / hour
