River Valley Transit is a fast-growing, Kankakee, IL-based, family-owned and operated company. We are looking for a Truck Driver with Class A CDL to join our team and be able to drive an average of 300 miles per day with maximum miles per day at 600 miles. Runs are Monday - Friday with an occasional Saturday. You will be home every night.
Job Description
Operate company own newer Freight-liner or International Day cab with wet kits and 10 speed manual transmissions. ELD equipped and dash cameras on board as well as GPS system on all our trucks. Be able to operate van trailers, open top gondola trailers and dump trailers. Local Class A CDL Driver drives an average of 300 miles per day with maximum of 600 miles per day with runs in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin and Missouri and will be home every night. No touch freight. Double drops happen with some van work and open top gondola trailers, but we never leave our dump trailers at a customer's yard. Must be a self-starter and follow detailed instructions from your dispatcher. Required to do daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections as well as keeping the truck clean and writing up any maintenance needs.
Pay
$25.00 per hour during the first 60 days and after the 60-day probationary period you will switch to 25% of what the load pays. If you are a quick learner you may be eligible to switch to load pay sooner. Our average driver grosses between $65,000-$72,000 per year. This is up to you!
Job Requirements
- Current Class A CDL License
- Current Medical Card
- Must be to obtain current driving history from DMV, no older than 7 days.
- Must be able to drive 10 speed manual transmissions, no automatic transmissions in our fleet.
- Able to operate van trailers, top gondola trailers and dump trailers.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections including writing up needed maintenance reports.
- Responsible for keeping the truck clean.
- Drive up to 600 miles per day with runs in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin and Missouri. Will be home each night.
- Must have a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, have good attendance and must be reliable.
- Follow detailed instructions from your dispatcher.
- No touch freight.
- Handle double drops with some van work and open gondola trailers.
- Never leave dump trailers at a customer's yard.
- Work Monday-Friday and an occasional Saturday run.
