Tired of driving over the road? We have a great opportunity for a Class A CDL Driver in the Roanoke area. This position will report to the Roanoke yard at the beginning of each shift. It is an 8hr day shift Monday- Friday with some weekend work. Benefits on your first day of work!

You Have:
- High school diploma or GED is preferred.
- Current/valid Class A CDL is a must; Tanker and HazMat endorsement(s) are a plus.
- At least 2 years experience with large mobile equipment and hauling vehicles and have the ability to become familiar with locations and routine.
- Smartphone/web experience required. Trucks are equipped with GPS.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office and internet based applications. SAP experience is helpful.
- Familiar with traffic regulations and load restrictions.
- Able to read, write, add, and subtract and to follow written or verbal instructions.
- Requires the use of judgment to comply with instructions, laws and safety regulations; determine routes; maintain good customer relations.
- Physical effort consisting of continuous light exertion in driving, frequent effort in tying down loads and assisting with unloading.
- Continuous mental and visual attention in coordinating a good degree of manual dexterity with close visual attention for sustained periods.
Your Work:
- Traveling approximately 180 miles a day picking up scrap from customers or delivering scrap to other locations. No overnight travel.
- Operate standard factory-equipped air conditioned diesel straight truck and tractor with roll-off trailers, dump trailers and van trailers to pick-up or deliver a variety of steel products and accessory items from Gerdau steel suppliers.
- Follow directions from verbal, written or electronic instructions, invoices, bills of lading, shipping tickets, etc.
- Keep accurate and legible records such as Driver’s Trip Reports, Driver’s Daily Log, Vehicle Inspection Report, and Driver’s Weekly Expense Report.
- Maintain polite, courteous and diplomatic relations with either customers, receivers or suppliers with whom contact is made. May be required to contact supplier for location/placement of roll-off bin.
- Assist loading or unloading; unload without help as necessary; tie down load with chains or cinches; attach markers for overhang.
