Truck Driver Responsibilities
- Transport finished goods and raw materials to and from manufacturing plants and distribution centers
- Load and unload cargo safely and efficiently
- Secure load by using straps
- Correct weights are over each axle
- Follow all applicable traffic laws
- Keep documents of logged deliveries and retain fuel receipts
- Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues
- Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
- Plan and use the most efficient and safe routes to meet delivery schedules
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
- Collect and verify delivery instructions
- Keep the truck and equipment clean and in good working condition
- Report to the supervisor any defects, accidents, or violations
- Must be or able to receive a forklift operator license
- Adaptability and foresight to handle unexpected situations (traffic, weather conditions, etc.)
- Ability to apply knowledge to deal with contingencies such as:
- traffic accidents
- vehicle breakdown
- health and safety incidents
Requirements
- Proven work experience as a Truck Driver
- Hands-on experience with electronic equipment and GPS software
- Have knowledge of basic computer skills
- Ability to drive 4 to 6 hours and travel daily
- Knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
- No recent moving or driving violations
- Must pass drug and alcohol tests
- Must have a clean driving record
- Must provide current MVR
- Must provide a medical certificate
- High school diploma
