Job Description: Class A CDL Driver
Job duties include, but are not limited to
- To deliver material safely and efficiently with CDL truck and Moffett forklift. It is your responsibility to ensure load is properly secured.
- To communicate well with dispatcher and customer and provide them with exceptional delivery service by showing respect and care for their property and building package.
- To work well with the entire team helping load, etc. wherever possible.
- Efficient time management.
- Collection on material delivery unless otherwise instructed.
- Monitor and report necessary equipment maintenance (fill out report).
- Monitor and maintain equipment, ELOG, and CDL License.
- Driver Trainer – Train, guide, and observe class A drivers to make sure they can drive and are doing what they’ve learned throughout training.
- Reference driver expectations sheet processes and detail instructions.
- Take pictures of materials unloaded at job site
- You should have a Work Order, an Invoice (or 2 W.O. if it’s a non-collect), and a Backorder Report (if the load has a backordered item) for each stop in your bin.
- Your load is your responsibility:
- Make sure that your load has been checked off by Quality Control Inspector (Jim for days, Aaron for nights for large trucks, Kyle for small trucks)
- Spot check the load: concrete, insulation, trusses, posts. Ask questions if item is missing from the load but not listed on the backorder report.
- Make sure that small stock has been pulled, verified, and loaded
- If there are items missing from your load, verify the Backorder Report is signed by dispatch
- Back orders are highly discouraged whenever possible
- Bring back signed copy of job for filing signed by you and the customer.
- Contact the customer immediately after you receive paperwork to give them an estimated arrival time. Confirm the address, job site preparedness, and payment. Discuss any issues with dispatch before leaving the yard.
- If you arrive on site and the customer does not have payment, payment does not match invoice, customer says they have an account, or has a problem or question concerning payment; contact dispatchfor approval before unloading or leaving. Count cash in front of customer. Customer and driver must sign the collection envelope.
- Report any damages or missing materials discovered or caused during unloading. IMMEDIATELY!!!
- It is your responsibility to have sufficient plastic to cover concrete, insulation, non-treated lumber, and fasteners. Stand up windows and protect them from the sun whenever possible. Never lay windows flat on the ground.
- Do not agree to accept a load from anyone other than dispatch or their lead. All pickups or deliveries you do must be approved by your dispatcher.
- Mark Filler bundles or post racks with banner before leaving and bring them back to the yard.
