JOB Posting Title Truck Driver 2
Your Role
As a Truck Driver with the Oregon Department of Corrections you will operate vehicles with a 26,001 gross vehicle weight rating or higher. This includes operating large trucks, buses, special vehicles, and semi-tractor/trailer equipment to transfer and deliver materials, supplies, and large-scale merchandise or products. You will inspect truck before and after trips and submits report indicating the trucks condition. You must be able to read bills of lading to determine assignment. You must be experienced in maneuvering trucks into loading or unloading position, load or unload, or assists in loading and unloading trucks. You will operate forklifts to load and unload trucks and move materials. You must be physically able to fasten chains or binders to secure load on trailer during transit. You will be required to drive truck to weigh station before and after loading and unloading, and along route to document weight and conform to state regulations. This will include maintaining an accurate driver's log. In addition to operating the truck you will be responsible for servicing truck with oil, fuel, and radiator fluid and troubleshoot minor repairs. This position will work 10-hour shifts Monday through Thursday.
In addition to your driving duties, you will assist with receiving various commodities from vendors and freight delivery companies according to purchase order specifications, indicating quantities received, vendor invoice numbers, and any discrepancies or damaged shipments. This will include compiling and preparing documents for input into the designated systems. This may include fill warehouse supply requisitions, enter orders and maintain stock levels. You will assist inventory and supply specialists as assigned. You will help perform special and quarterly physical inventories of warehouse stock items to assure accurate stock levels and compliance with governing directives –results of which will be maintained on file for audit trail and any other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Oregon Class A commercial driver license

5 years with Class A commercial operations.
Maneuvering a 53ft trailer.
Drop axle operations.
Reefer pre trip, during, after operations.
Understand and apply Oregon motor vehicle codes.
Understand and apply shipping and delivery instructions.
Completing minor vehicle maintenance.
Safely operating a motor vehicle in all types of weather and road conditions.
Preparing detailed written records of work accomplished and transactions completed.
Changing tires, installing chains and use jumper cables.
Moving materials using recognized safety practices and procedures.

Working Conditions
Requires physical ability to perform heavy lifting for short duration on a daily basis, and load and off-load supply shipments during inclement weather conditions. Subjected to hazards associated with an adults in custody workforce assigned to the Central Distribution Center institution delivery sites.

Security regulations require skills and knowledge of daily custody and supervision of adults in custody assigned to the warehouse. You must maintain a general knowledge of security procedures and guidelines. Required reporting of all infractions of security regulations to immediate supervisor or security staff. Achieve maximum compliance in control and accountability of security keys and tools. Prevent the introduction of contraband, which could be used by adults in custody as weapons or provide a means of escape from custody. Will be required to routinely transport adults in custody to and from the warehouse to assigned institution.
Requirements for Employment
You must be able to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following convictions are likely to result in being disqualified for this position: felony convictions, computer theft, identify theft and fraud. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range. Also provided are fully paid retirement program, modest life insurance policy, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.
