Hours: Monday-Friday approimxately 8am-6pm
Overview: To operate safely and efficiently all delivery vehicles and forklifts for Konz Wood Products and to be licensed for such operation, according to Federal and State regulations and to maintain an overall safe driving record.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Transport finished goods for Konz Wood Products in a safe and efficient manner according to the delivery schedule set by Shipping Supervisor and Production Manager.
- Represent Konz Wood Products in a professional and courteous manner.
- Stay on direct truck route to and from the customer with no passengers except company employees on business and no unscheduled stops without permission.
- Relay pertinent information from the customer to the Production Manager.
- Count all pallets to match the delivery ticket and initial all tickets before turning them in.
- Utilize forklifts to load vehicles for delivery and assist in unloading semi-trailers and rail cars delivering goods.
- Sweep out vans after every delivery and clean inside of semi-tractor weekly.
- Check all tractors and trucks prior to using them to make sure all liquid levels are at a safe level, and all pertinent equipment is in good working order so they can be operated safely.
- Check van and/or flatbed prior to use to make sure everything is in good working condition prior to their use.
- Inform the company immediately of any accidents no matter how minor and provide assistance in the accident investigation; inform the company immediately of any changes in licensing or health conditions which would affect ability to function as a Truck Driver.
- Advise your supervisor immediately and fill out a maintenance request if anything needs to be fixed on tractor(s), truck(s), van(s), and flatbed(s) that is not in good working condition.
- Make early or late deliveries if required by our customer needs.
- Notify Konz Wood Products if you will be delayed more than 1 hour.
- In the absence of deliveries, loading and unloading requirements, assist production personnel where the Production Manager sees fit
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Class A CDL required
- Previous truck driving preferred
- Must be safety conscious and will be be evaluated on driving ability before offer of employment
- Driving record must meet our insurers standards
- Required to pass DOT drug and alcohol testing
- Able to work well with others
- Must be able to read and write
- Must be able to perform basic mathematical computations
- On most occasions will lift 50 pounds or less and on a rare occasion must be able to lift, push and pull objects that are 75 pounds or heavier
- Must be able to sit, walk, bend and twist for long periods of time throughout the day
- Must be able to read a tape measure
- Must be able to understand and adhere to all the safety requirements of the pallet manufacturing facility
