Camp Zanika is a youth summer camp that provides children, grades 1-12, an opportunity to live beneath the trees, learn under the stars and experience the wonder of the great outdoors. On the shores of beautiful Lake Wenatchee, Camp Zanika is the ideal location for kids to learn new skills, have fun, and make friends & memories that will last a lifetime.

Pay is $450 per week, includes meals and housing. FLSA Section 13(a)(3)

Reporting to the Assistant Camp Director of Programs, the Trip and Travel Director is responsible for planning, directing and supervising the camp's tripping program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Training and experience in tripping activities.
  • Basic knowledge of backpacking, Leave No Trace, and ability to teach skills to staff and campers of all ages.
  • Current CPR and first aid certifications and Wilderness First Aid certification.
  • Desire and ability to work with children outdoors.
  • Knowledge of the North Central Washington backcountry (preferred)
  • Current Driver’s License and good driving record.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Set up backpacking and equipment area during staff training.

2. Teach and monitor proper use of equipment.

3. Conduct initial and end-of-season inventory, and store equipment for safety.

4. Check equipment and make arrangements for necessary repairs as needed.

5. Help plan trips based on the camper's skills, ability, and interest.

6. Teach campers and staff Minimum Impact Camping and Zanika Lache’s Operating Procedures for all day and overnight trips.

7. Assist in packing all equipment and supplies at the end of season.

8. Participate in weekly staff meetings.

9. Promptly complete camp evaluations.

10. Other duties as assigned / reassigned.
