TRIO Pre-College is a department which encompasses 2 TRIO programs: Educational Talent Search and Upward Bound. These programs serve students in 3 high schools in Anchorage by assisting them in completing high school and preparing them for higher education (college or trade schools) post graduation. The Student Office Assistant provides back end support through data entry, file management, supply management, occasional event support, and other tasks. They help the programs run efficiently so they can better serve students in preparing them for success after high school. The position may be extended to assist during the Upward Bound summer program based on program needs.
To thrive in this role a student employee needs to be dependable and able to work independently with minimal supervision on basic administrative tasks. They must have organizational skills as well as general computer literacy. The student employee will be working with participant data so they must be able to keep all participant information confidential and have accurate data entry skills. TRIO Pre-college uses Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets so experience with basic operations in those programs would be beneficial. During the summer and TRIO events the student worker will be asked to assist with program activities such as by operating the sign in table, event set up and take down, and handing out supplies or food. Experience working in an office environment and experience with TRIO Programs and/or a background similar to that of the target population are preferred but not required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be current UAA student in good standing.
Position Details:
This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage and is a part-time, spring semester, non-exempt student position. Pay is $18.00 per hour for up to 20 hours per week while classes are in session. The position may be extended into the summer depending on program needs.
