Summary of Responsibilities:
Under direction and supervision of the Victim Services Director, performs a wide variety of duties involved in providing support and advocacy for the rights and protection of adult, child and secondary victims of Sexual Assault as an on-site Victim Advocate at the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma. S/he is responsible for the assessment of the individual victims needs and will work together with other community resources to fulfill those needs which may include counseling, referrals, food, property return, general advocacy and support. S/he is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the advocacy service and insuring that all data and client documentation is appropriately maintained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide advocacy for adult, child and secondary victims of Sexual Assault at the individual and system level.
• Assist victims of crime when requested by law enforcement at crime scenes, hospitals, or other safe locations; provide support, referrals and information related to crime victim rights and victim compensation information and applications.
• Complete client intake forms; document services and referrals provided; conduct thorough case management on all cases to include follow-up contacts.
• Work closely and interact with detectives, deputies, patrol officers, supervisors, service providers and other advocates, governmental agencies and the general public to ensure a survivors rights and needs are addressed.
• Provide back-up for volunteer advocates and volunteer back-ups on a rotational basis with other Tribal Sexual Assault Services Program (TSASP) staff.
• Maintain good working relationships with other agencies.
• Respond to cases of Sexual Assault, domestic violence, stalking and dating violence during and/or after business hours on a rotational basis with other Victim Service Program staff.
• Responsible for developing contacts and building liaison relationships within the community.
• Assist with presentations to schools, community groups and others interested in issues related to Sexual Assault, domestic violence, stalking and dating violence.
• Responsible for data entry and maintenance of monthly, quarterly and annual reports related to client services, statistics, case disposition and other services provided.
• Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience:

• A Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, psychology or related field with three (3) years work in victim services.
• Possess knowledge of victim assistance including applicable standards, laws, regulations and codes.

• Knowledge and understanding of operations, services and activities of a victim advocacy program.
• Effective skills in interviewing, listening, and crisis intervention skills.
• Knowledge of community resources and the availability of those resources.
• Skill and ability to organize and multi-task - ability to prioritize tasks by importance and accomplish highest priority tasks each day.
• Knowledge of case management principles and practices.
• Ability to work with others on an individual basis utilizing high interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to read, understand, apply and retain knowledge of departmental rules, regulations and policies.
• Ability to deal with crisis oriented situations and extreme human behaviors or reactions caused by crisis.
• Possess non-judgmental attitude with genuine concern and empathy for crime victims.
• Respectful, knowledgeable, and have an understanding of tribal cultures, customs, beliefs, values, social systems and structure of Indian families.
• Knowledge of practices and procedures of filing legal documents in accordance with Tribal and State Court.
• Knowledge of principals and characteristics of victims of crime.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and internet resources.
