Overview

This position will support the Office of Coastal Management (OCM) Regional Ocean Partnership funds investments under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law , which include an annual $1 million set aside for direct grants to Tribes. The coordinator will help to manage these grants and work towards addressing potential barriers in accessing them. The coordinator's primary focus will be to support the funding competition, awards, and reporting. It will also help broaden tribal communities' understanding of the Office of Coastal Management and its tools, data, and services.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Tribal and Equity Coordinator

  • Serve as a Technical Program Officer to manage existing and future Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding awards that support Tribal engagement with Regional Ocean Partnerships (ROPs), in close coordination with the Federal Program Officer (FPO).

  • Work with the Competition Manager to support management and execution of a funding competition, including the Notice of Funding Opportunity, as well as proposal review, scoring, and selection.

  • Support continued outreach and engagement with Tribes involved in existing or emerging ROPs, or involved in other BIL projects funded by NOAA OCM.

  • Advance cross-OCM coordination and engagement regarding product and service delivery in support of Tribal needs (e.g., geospatial, learning products, etc.).

Desired Skills and Experience of the Tribal and Equity Coordinator

  • Experience working with Tribal and/or Indigenous communities;

  • Experience with grants management or working with Tribal and/or underserved communities on funding and resource management issues;

  • Developing and maintaining partnerships and relationships;

  • Cultural sensitivity and respect for cultural norms

  • Strong oral and written communications skills; and

  • Strong organizational skills to support project management, tracking, and reporting
