Trial Attorney

Our National Financial Services Law Firm provides elite legal representation to mortgage servicers in the context of foreclosure and bankruptcy cases. The Trial Attorney role provides a new hire with the uniquely experiential opportunity to immerse themselves in the day-to-day bustle of a prestigious Commercial Litigation and Trial practice group. We are currently seeking a Trial Attorney who is responsible for representing consumer financial services clients in plaintiffs’ litigation.

Job Description: As a Trial Attorney you will:

• Manage, prepare, and conduct hearings, trials, appellate arguments, and depositions on complex commercial litigation cases.
• Develop legal and trial strategies and provide internal and client strategy recommendations.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel and other parties throughout the legal process, discovery, conferences, motion drafting, court appearances, depositions, and trial.
• Manage trial, case, and court deadlines.
• Litigate cases before New York trial and appellate courts, if needed.
• Prepare and argue pre-and-post trial memorandums as needed.
• Research, draft, and analyze federal, state, and local regulations or laws.
• Maintain and update firm’s case management system with status for assigned caseload.
• No annual billable requirements.
• Prior financial services experience not required.
• Flexible hybrid in-office schedule; would consider full-time virtual schedule for the proper candidate.

Experience Requirements:

• Trial experience at the state level.
• Strong analytical, writing, research, and communication skills.
• Sophisticated knowledge of the rules of trial and civil procedure.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and oral advocacy experience.
• Ability to work in collaboration with other team members.
• Superior organizational skills, multitasking ability and technology proficiency.
• Strong worth ethic and clear interest in trial practice.
• Experience managing deadlines and caseload.
• New York barred.
• 4+ years trial experience.

Required Education and Training:

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Membership in the New York bar
• 4+ years of trial experience

Salary: $135,000-$200,000; commensurate with experience
