Schedule: Varies based on Travel

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Housby is looking for a Welders Assistant to join our team! This position is primarily responsible for prepping the repair on Class 8 vehicles at the direction of the welder. This position requires regular travel across the US.

FOCUS:

  • Essential duties include the following. Other duties as assigned.
  • Remove and/or reinstall components from Class 8 trucks.
  • Measure and cut material to specifications.
  • Determine the required tools and materials, to have staged for the welder.
  • Operate an angle grinder to prepare parts that must be welded.
  • Responsible for inspecting and maintaining supplies, equipment, and tools.
  • Asist the welder in preparation of repairs.
  • Able to remove drive shafts and airlines then reinstall when complete.
  • Willing to travel on a national level to customer locations to perform welding jobs for extended periods of time.
  • Must follow the company's safety rules and policies.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a welder preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with welding equipment and processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent technical skills and the ability to interpret schematics.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Proficient in English.
  • Physical dexterity.
  • Must have and follow Housby's Core Values.

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Trade school diploma or completed apprenticeship preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Safety glasses and safety shoes are required at all times.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Tools will be company provided.
  • The work environment for this position is varied due to the differences in our work site. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic and outside weather conditions.
  • Works indoors and some outdoors.
  • Noise level is usually moderate to very loud.
  • Some weekends and evening hours will be required.
  • Ability to travel by vehicle to job sites on a national level.

COMPENSATION:

  • $20 - $30 per hour (Based on Experience)
