PAY RANGE: $20-$25 

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO, Hero DVO, LLC is a leading provider of healthcare practice management services for dental, orthodontic and vision care practices that primarily serve the pediatric Medicaid population. Hero was originally founded as a dental practice management firm focused on pediatric Medicaid patients. However, management recognized that there was an opportunity to offer these patients additional services in the same location to more efficiently meet their healthcare needs. As such, over the past nine years, the company has expanded its services into vision and orthodontics, and manages 21 practices across seven states with the largest density in Colorado.

Hero has developed a unique operating model that allows the company to differentiate itself from competitors including a multi-service option, providing patients with convenient access to multiple healthcare services at a single location. Additionally, Hero has developed a repeatable model that focuses on hiring high-quality providers and driving patient experience. The patient experience starts with a rigorous recruiting process that ensures only highly-skilled providers excited about working with children are hired at each practice. Hero’s facilities are extremely well-maintained, include colorful murals of cartoon characters and a large play area, reducing any anxiety children feel when visiting the dentist or other doctors. Hero also utilizes the latest technology, including EMRs and digital X-rays, in all offices to help improve quality and patient experience.

Hero’s leading quality and compliance program differentiates the company from competitors. In particular, Hero utilizes internal and third-party quality and compliance reviews to monitor all providers and practices. The company utilizes a compensation structure that ensures providers are solely focused on excellent care. Hero also provides significant ongoing training to its providers and uses documented, clinical guidelines to assist providers.

MISSION OF THE ROLE  

The Specialty Services Dental Assistant’s mission is to support the dentist and anesthesiologist in providing excellent, high-quality care to patients at a pediatric dental practice, including sedation and oral surgery.

 

OUTCOMES OF THE ROLE  

Achieving the above mission will require the Specialty Services Dental Assistant to do the following:

  1. Patient Experience: Establish clear expectations for teammates around desired patient experience and respond promptly to customers’ needs by (1) setting up a friendly relationship with patients and parent by educating them on personal oral care, (2) providing excellent chair-side assistance to doctor’s in healthcare procedures, (3) accurately collecting and recording patient medical and dental histories, (4) organizing and sterilizing dental instruments, (5) and performing safe and efficient dental radiographs and x-rays with the dentist.
  2. Operations: Understand, monitor, and ensure the smooth execution of dental processes, including but not limited to: chairside 4/6 handed dentistry to include OP procedures, oral surgery, charting and x-rays in a sedation environment
  3. Collaboration: With others to provide and understand vision and inspiration to peers by (1) displaying passion and optimism (2) remaining open to others’ ideas and (3) being able to work in a fast-paced environment with different personalities.
  4. Compliance: Understand, monitor and ensure effective execution of all policies and procedures by (1) completing administrative tasks correctly and on time, (2) supporting organizations goals and values, (3) supporting affirmative action, and respecting diversity and (4) adhering to state and federal guidelines.

  • Preferred knowledge of eClinicalWorks
  • Must be comfortable and knowledgeable of General Anesthesia and Oral Surgery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • DA Certified required in the states for which you apply
  • X-ray certification required in the states for which you apply.
  • Previous work experience in a high volume dental practice is a plus.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to travel to all Colorado Offices 100% of the time
  • Commit to (non-consistent) hours assigned by Specialty Services manager 
  • Reliable transportation is a must

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Travel to all Colorado practices to assist dentist in GA cases
  • Travel to all Colorado practices to assist oral surgeon in OS cases as needed
  • Ensure proper setups and treatment plans
  • Educate parents on pre and post op instructions
  • Clean and Sterilize all instruments for procedures
  • Assist providers with patient care during and after surgery as needed
  • Ensure all charting, x-rays, notes are complete for billing
  • Ensure proper supplies on hand and order any additional
  • Educate staff members on specialty services referrals and processes
  • Assist practices on non-specialty days for training or additional staffing needs

 

Hours of Operation (may vary)

5:30 am to 4:00 pm on Anesthesia Days

8:00 am to 7:00 pm on non-anesthesia days     

SALARY & BENEFITS  

Full-time, non-exempt position. Competitive salary and benefits package. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance and 401(k).

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

This position requires full range of body motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk and stand; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands repetitively to handle, feel or operate standard office equipment; reach with hands and arms; and lift up to 25-50 pounds
