Job Description:
We are currently seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic healthcare team as a PACU RN in Buffalo, NY. As a PACU RN, you will be responsible for providing high-quality post-anesthesia nursing care to patients recovering from surgical procedures and anesthesia.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patients' physical and emotional health post-surgery, monitoring vital signs and identifying any complications or adverse reactions to anesthesia.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, and pain management treatments as ordered by surgeons or anesthesiologists, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols.
- Implement and maintain post-operative patient care plans, utilizing evidence-based practices to ensure optimal comfort, safety, and recovery.
- Monitor and respond to patient's needs and concerns, offering emotional support, education, and resources to promote successful recovery.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other nursing staff, to coordinate patient care and ensure smooth transitions to different units or home.
- Document patient assessment findings, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely, maintaining detailed and organized medical records.
- Adhere to infection control standards, safety regulations, and professional nursing standards in the delivery of patient care.
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities to stay abreast of advancements in PACU nursing and anesthesia practices.
- Foster a compassionate and professional environment that values diversity, teamwork, and patient-centered care.
Requirements:
- Valid and current RN license in the state of New York.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN, preferably with prior experience in a PACU or critical care setting.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to effectively collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
- Knowledge of anesthesia techniques, recovery protocols, and pain management strategies.
- Proficient in the use of electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
