Position: Travel Phlebotomist

Location: Grand Forks, North Dakota

Weekly Pay: $1,388

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Shift: 7:30am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday

No Weekends. No Guaranteed Hours.

State License Requirement: Must be currently active

Job Description Summary:

The Travel Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood specimens through capillary and venipuncture methods from patients of all age groups. Additionally, they assist patients with non-blood collections while ensuring specimen integrity through accurate patient identification, labeling, and transport. This role may also involve occasional point-of-care patient testing, particularly glucose, all while maintaining exceptional customer service.

Job Description:

• Patient Identification and Specimen Labeling: Adheres to standard operating procedures to accurately identify patients and label specimens.
• Phlebotomy Processes: Demonstrates proficiency in phlebotomy techniques to obtain high-quality blood specimens, crucial for accurate diagnosis and treatment decisions.
• Point-of-Care Testing: Performs, interprets, and reports point-of-care tests, particularly glucose testing, and maintains quality control measures.
• Report Processing: Processes laboratory and patient reports following standard procedures, including printing, recording, distributing, faxing, filing, and retrieval.
• Problem Recognition and Resolution: Identifies issues promptly, takes appropriate action, documents problems and corrective measures, and communicates effectively with supervisors to ensure patient care is not compromised.
• Effective Communication and Workflow Management: Maintains active communication throughout the shift, managing priority requests courteously and promptly to facilitate smooth departmental workflow. Ensures timely follow-up on STAT, ASAP, and Pre-op draws to meet turnaround time targets.
• Additional Duties: Completes assigned tasks and assists as needed to support departmental and organizational requirements.
