We are seeking a talented and experienced Travel Demand Modeler with expertise in Travel Demand forecasting techniques.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Travel Demand theories and applications, transportation engineering, data analysis, and modeling techniques, with a passion for solving complex transportation problems and improving travel experiences for communities. In this position, the candidate will:
- Develop and update Travel Demand models to forecast future transportation needs and trends.
- Utilize simulation modeling techniques to analyze traffic flows, congestion patterns, and transportation network performance.
- Conduct detailed data analysis using a variety of data sources to understand travel behavior, demographic trends, and land use patterns.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate transportation planning efforts with urban development initiatives.
- Design and execute scenario-based simulations to evaluate the potential impact of transportation policies, infrastructure projects, and land use changes.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on Travel Demand modeling methodologies, best practices, and emerging trends.
- Prepare clear and concise reports, presentations, and technical documents to communicate findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders.
- Assist in the development of transportation master plans, corridor studies, and other planning documents.
- May perform other duties associated with this role.
Qualifications for this role:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Computer Science, Economics or a related field.
- 2+ years of relevant industry experience performing traffic analysis and modeling
- Proficiency in transportation modeling software such as TransCAD, VISUM, Cube Voyager, or similar tools.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with statistical analysis, data visualization, and GIS software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to program in Python and/or R.
- Experience working on transportation planning projects for government agencies or consulting firms preferred.
