Responsibilities

Job Summary
This job is responsible for researching, developing, implementing and maintaining an organized interdisciplinary health approach to Injury Prevention, including areas of focus such as:  motor vehicle occupant safety, motorcycle/bicycle safety/helmet initiatives, pedestrian safety, fall and/or firearm Injury Prevention, violence intervention and screening programs.  As a community engagement strategy, an incumbent will research available documentation regarding recent injury trends to develop effective mitigation approaches and provide for the education of healthcare providers and community advocates in trauma care.  
Work includes:  1) researching and developing graphs/tables and other documentation highlighting recent injury mechanisms or trends from the Trauma registry; 2) reporting Injury Prevention activities, including related deliverables; 3) developing, coordinating and maintaining approaches for community education and outreach designed to improve outcomes from trauma and minimize the effects of injury; 4) developing and maintaining, in collaboration with unit-based and regional RN educators, an organized trauma orientation for new nursing staff caring for trauma patients; 5) preparing/negotiating trauma/funding-related grant applications and service contracts; and 6) serving as an advocate for quality trauma-related patient care.  

 

Qualifications
Education/Work Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and four years of directly related work experience, preferably in a healthcare environment, that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities.  Work experience in safety, public health, Injury Prevention, healthcare education/outreach is preferred.
 
 Licensure/Certification

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Washington State Board of Nursing.
• Preferred Qualifications:

TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) Instructor/Director
ATCN (Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses) Instructor/Director
ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) Course Coordinator
PHTLS/ITLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support) Instructor
CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse), TCRN (Trauma Certified Registered Nurse) and/or CCRN Critical Care Registered Nurse) Certification


Pay Range
$40.66 - $58.96 /hour
