Location: Fairfield Resident Construction Engineer Office - Fairfield, Iowa
Work Hours: 7:45 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, hours may vary; may need to respond to emergencies and occasional travel.
As the Fairfield Transportation Engineer Associate, you'll play a vital role by coordinating contract administration for projects throughout District 5. This team will be administering $49.9 million of projects to improve the bridges and roadway during the 2024 Construction Season which includes the following key projects:
- Structures - On Highway 1, Little Lick Creek 1.2 mi N of S Jct IA 16
- PCC Paving - On Highway 92, E of US 218 to 2nd St in Columbus Junction
- Grading - On Highway 61, N of Mediapolis to 0.5 mi N of IA 78
You'll work with a great team dedicated to improving Iowa roads by:
- inspect and coordinate construction projects ensuring work is aligned with contract documents
- engage and collaborate with employees to support team success
- act as a liaison with Iowa DOT staff, government officials, contractors, media, and the public
- ensure proper certification of materials including sampling, testing, and inspection
- respond to inquiries and resolves technical issues in accordance with department policies
- performs Resident Construction final audit process for completed projects
- use DOT technical devices and software applications
Special Requirements: Possession of an Engineer Intern (EI) Certificate issued by the Iowa State Board of Engineering Examiners is required within 18 months of hire. Licensure as a Professional Engineer is required within 9 years of hire for continued employment as a Transportation Engineer Associate.
