By joining our Equipment Section as a Transportation Auto/Truck Technician I in Adair County, you will havethe opportunity to perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance on all state owned equipment, such aspick-up trucks, dump trucks, backhoes, rubber tired loaders, etc.

Holders of this Job Title will complete tasks such as:
- Change oil and filters on trucks, tractors, loaders, backhoes, etc.
- Change brakes, brake pads, brake shoes, drums & rotors
- Change tires on equipment
- Assist the more advanced level mechanic
- Some beginner computer skills
- Class A CDL
- More advanced mechanic skills
- Automotive Service Excellence ASE
- Basic equipment operating experience
- Experience performing preventative maintenance on vehicles and/or equipment
- Understanding importance of safety and willingness to promote safe work environment

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:Must have two years of automotive/equipment/truck repair technical experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:Vocational or technical school training in automotive/truck repair or a related area will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):Must be 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification. Employees in this job classification must furnish the agency's appointing authority within six months of employment in the job classification, documentation that he or she possesses a valid Class A commercial driver's license.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
