St. Johns River Water Management District is seeking a Transportation and Facilities Bureau Chief.
This is a senior management position responsible for directing the operation and maintenance of District facilities, grounds, and the Transportation and equipment fleet.
Responsibilities include all aspects managing:
- a team of 25 staff members,
- 550 asset fleet including cars, trucks, and equipment,
- 3 mechanic shops,
- 10 office locations including 326,000 square feet of office and warehouse space in nine counties.
The Bureau Chief is expected to provide ongoing communication and guidance to staff to ensure clear understanding of priorities and alignment with the direction from the Division Director; develop key metrics and report on progress against those metrics; and prepare and manage a multi-faceted budget.
The Bureau Chief participates in creation of a five-year work plan; monitors status for each team against the work plan; provides status updates and presents to the Governing Board, the Executive Leadership Team, and other internal stakeholders.
This is a position of strategic leadership within the District. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in written and oral communication; effectively and efficiently provide staff leadership and supervision; prioritize, organize, and accomplish multiple competing tasks; deal with people in a courteous manner; manage change; embrace a teamwork approach in the workplace; and make sound technical and management decisions.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and five years of professional experience in fleet and Facilities management or a combination of professional experience in fleet and Facilities management, two of which must have been in a supervisor capacity.
Professional experience in fleet and/or facilities can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
SJRWMD has determined this to be a mandatory-testing position as described in Section 440.102, Florida Statutes. This position is located in our Palatka office and is eligible for limited telework and the senior management benefits package. The minimum salary for this position is $99,299.20 with the offered salary commensurate with the applicant’s knowledge and experience.
