Job Summary: Coordinate the movement of goods, products and materials while developing and implementing procedures to efficiently administrate transportation.
Essential Functions:
· Make and execute decisions regarding delivery needs of customer orders.
· Manage relationships with transportation providers, vendors, Customer Service, and others to help resolve shipping issues.
· Communicate with appropriate departments when product or customer service issues arise.
· Generate and publish daily reports on shipments in and outbound.
· Follow up on order and shipping errors to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction.
· Follow up on all scheduled freight to assure completion of requested services.
· Collaborate with others in Logistics to ensure fast processing of orders.
· Evaluate current processes and suggest any appropriate improvements to increase efficiency and better the customer experience.
· Investigate processing as well as customer problems and provide strategic solutions.
· Manage all freight claims from time of damage to completion of payment and material disposal.
· Issue Returns Authorizations for any outbound damages and communicate these with appropriate departments.
· Review and approve freight invoices as needed from account departments. Work with carriers to resolve any billing issues.
· Perform duties safely and report unsafe conditions or actions.
· Provide information or indication of problems to Management or Quality Assurance.
· Reports to work regularly and on time.
· Assists in other duties as needed and directed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· Skilled in active listening, reading comprehension, monitoring, time management, managing multiple tasks, following through, and relationship building
· A knowledge of logistics codes and calculations pertaining to national and international transportation requirements. NMFC, Harmonizing Codes, Dimensional Weight, etc.
· Produces monthly summary reports to Senior Management Team.
Education and Experience:
· Mathematical Skills – Accuracy with arithmetic, subtraction, multiplication, division, and decimals
· Language Skills – Must be able to communicate in English, verbally and in writing
· Computer Skills – Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, 10-key, and other business-related software
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- The employee is regularly required to talk on the phone, face to face, and use the computer or other activities normal to an office environment.
