Remote Employment: This role is fully remote in all the listed states below except for applicants living in Seattle, WA and Bethlehem, PA, where there is a hybrid schedule.

Hiring Locations: For this position, the states we hire in are limited to: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. Primary Purpose:

In this position, you will serve on a team of motivated and passionate professionals responsible for coordinating the lifesaving and life-enhancing donation of musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and ocular tissue. The role is comprised of three major functions: (i) comprehensive medical screenings, (ii) discussing donation options with potential donor families, and (iii) managing tissue recovery logistics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Donor Eligibility and Medical Screening

  • Evaluates donation potential by conducting an assessment of the patient?s clinical course and health history; this is done through the use of electronic medical record access and working directly with hospital nurses and physicians in a professional, efficient, and precise manner.
  • Communicates donor medical information to national tissue processors and partners to ensure acceptability of potential tissue.
  • Continually monitors research requests to meet distribution needs for research tissue.

Donation Discussions and Advocacy

  • Informs and supports donor families through the donation process and empowers them to make an informed decision on donation.
  • Advocates for donation by highlighting the lasting impact donation gifts have on recipients. Addresses concerns families may have.
  • Partners with donor families to uphold patient?s donor registries and end-of-life wishes.
  • Completes necessary documentation with legal next-of-kin to authorize the recovery of tissue for transplant and research.
  • Performs a donor risk assessment interview with families to ensure the safety of donor tissue for recipients.

Tissue Recovery Logistics and Case Management

  • Dispatches technicians and recovery teams to hospitals and other facilities to procure consented tissues for transplant and research.
  • Actively problem-solves logistical issues to ensure the safe recovery of donated tissue.
  • Coordinates closely with medical examiners and coroners to obtain release for donation and creates recovery plans that ensure timely donation (while not interfering with autopsies and death investigation).
  • Manages several active donor cases at a time with exceptional attention to detail, efficiency and quality.

  • Excellent oral/written communication and team-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with all Eye Bank staff and contribute to a positive environment both in person and remotely.
  • Ability to facilitate self-initiated and virtual learning.
  • Position requires extensive use of the telephone, extended sitting and long duration's in front of a computer screen. Must be able to stay focused and engaged.
  • Proficient in working with computers and managing several programs at a time is required.
  • Able to interpret and follow written direction.
  • Possess an Internet speed of at least 50mbps
  • Ability to work long hours, nights, and weekends. Ability to work a flexible schedule that spans all shifts and days.

Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

  • High School or equivalent
  • 0-2 years of donor coordination or eye banking experience
  • Bachelor?s Degree in related field preferred
  • Relevant educational or work experience preferred

Wage Range:

For California outside of the SF Bay Area, New York, and Western Washington State, the range is $22.72 ? 24.53.

For and Eastern Washington State, the range is $20.44 ? 22.08.

For the San Francisco (SF) Bay Area of California, the range is $26.12 ? 28.21.

Other Compensation:

  • This role is also entitled to bonuses and shift differential payments, including a 10% Night Shift differential for all hours worked between 6:00PM ? 6:00AM local time.
