Our government client is currently looking for a Transit Planner to join their team. They are seeking a highly motivated individual with great attention to detail. As a Transit Planner, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of various planning projects. Your role will involve tasks such as preparing budgets, researching and analyzing data, and providing recommendations to support effective decision-making. Responsibilities:
- Evaluates existing transit routes, schedules, and services to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for optimization, including service realignments, frequency adjustments, and new service introductions.
- Assists with the development of short-term and long-term transit plans, including route alignments, service frequencies, schedules, and fare structures, in alignment with organizational objectives and community needs.
- Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS), transit modeling software, and other tools to build schedules, evaluate transit service performance, assess alternative scenarios, and inform decision-making processes.
- Assist with the conduction of ridership analysis, demographic studies, and market research to identify transit demand, trends, and opportunities for service enhancements.
- Collaborates with internal stakeholders, government agencies, community organizations, and other partners to gather input, address concerns, and integrate transit planning considerations into broader transportation and land use planning efforts.
- Assists with grant research and writing efforts.
- Develops recommendations and assists in preparing departmental budgets for transit operations.
- Observes safety and security procedures, uses equipment and materials safely and reports potentially unsafe conditions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education, training and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Familiarity with transit scheduling software, GIS tools, and other planning technologies.
- Valid state drivers’ license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record
