Form of work2023-114********** This position is for internal transfer only ********** POSITION: MAINTENANCE FOREMAN, STRUCTURAL DIVISIONLOCATION: MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT REPORTS TO: SUPERVISOR OF MAINTENANCE AND CONSTRUCTION SALARY RANGE: $19.95 - $24.69 PER HOUR OVERVIEW OF POSITION: The Maintenance Foreman assists the Supervisor of Maintenance & Construction in the repair and maintenance of all facilities within the school system. The Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day scheduling and inspections of work assignments of employees and outside contractors within the department. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant should possess the following skills, knowledge and abilities in order to meet the minimum requirements for this position:Minimum of ten (10) years combined experience in carpentry, masonry, roofing, flooring, installation of door hardwareDemonstrated knowledge of building construction methods, materials, equipment, and be able to operate all hand and power tools required in the construction and repair of building systemsA high school diploma or G.E.D.
EquivalentA working knowledge of the Labor/Management AgreementDemonstrated knowledge and proficiency in interpreting blueprints and specificationsAbility to plan, inspect, and do repair work on various building systems and demonstrate proficiency in these areasDemonstrated mechanical aptitude Possess a valid Maryland driver's license and pass a DOT physicalAble to read, write, and do mathematics required for layout work and demonstrate proficiency in these areasPossess all necessary hand tools for assigned work and provide a listing of such toolsPass a physical as per MOSHA Regulations 29 CFR 1910.13 and Respiratory ProtectionEffective interpersonal, communication and motivational skillsMust be capable of performing the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodationsRegular, on-time attendanceAvailable to work after-hours and weekends to respond to emergencies or complete projects without interruption of student instructionESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Plans and inspects repair work and new constructionSpecify and order materialsDirects, instructs, and coordinates maintenance employees in their performance of repairs to buildings and systemsPrepares time studies, estimates labor hours and schedules work crews effectivelyCalculates costs of various projectsSurveys and recommends various maintenance and construction projects Works with other departments in utilizing the resources of the school systemInterprets and transmits oral and written information to achieve project requirementsKeeps abreast of newest materials and techniquesDevelops and administers quality standardsAssures compliance with safety regulationsCoordinates the scheduling, inspection, and approves the work of outside contractorsPerforms other necessary duties as requiredMay perform any or all the duties of lower grade maintenance employees PROCEDURES FOR FILING APPLICATIONS: All interested in this position must complete an application located on our website at www.acpsmd.org http://www.acpsmd.org/ in the job opportunities tab.
