Summary
The School of Information (UMSI) is a progressive, interdisciplinary professional school offering a Bachelor of Science in Information, a Master of Science in Information, a Master of Health Informatics, and a Ph.D. Our mission is to create and share knowledge so that people will use information with technology to build a better world.
UMSI is looking for a Transfer and Access Recruitment Senior Coordinator to join our Recruitment, Admissions, and Financial Aid team within the Office of Academic and Student Affairs team. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Diversity Recruitment and Admissions, you will develop a strategy, outreach, and execution plan to recruit and yield for UMSI new transfer students, transferring from an external institution, with an emphasis on populations historically marginalized and underrepresented in higher education. You will provide support in diversity recruitment and initiatives to promote access to UMSI for students from historically underrepresented and underserved communities to UMSI degree programs.

Responsibilities*
New Transfer Recruitment and Admissions (70%):
  • Lead strategic planning and direction-setting efforts for new transfer recruitment and yield, with a specific emphasis on creating pathways for students from historically underrepresented and underserved communities to access the Bachelor of Science in Information (BSI) program at the University of Michigan School of Information in collaboration with the UMSI Recruitment and Admissions team to create and implement both short and long term plans for recruitment.
  • Represent the BSI program to prospective students and other individuals who support students in finding and navigating the undergraduate transfer application process and coaching on academic and career opportunities; this includes families, counselors, advisors, and faculty.
  • Manage yield work for admitted students through personal contact and follow-up, programming, and identifying students' needs. Including planning and implementing yield events and communications for admitted students.
  • Coordinate new transfer student orientation and programming, collaborating with relevant UMSI partners and university offices, including the Office of New Student Programming (ONSP).

Diversity Recruitment Support (20%):
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Diversity Recruitment and Admissions to implement initiatives that align with UMSI and University diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) goals.
  • Foster relationships with community colleges, schools, and organizations that serve diverse student populations.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices in higher education and work to incorporate them into UMSI's recruitment and admissions strategies.
  • Act as a key contributor to the development, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives that directly support UMSI and University diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) goals for recruitment and admissions; in collaboration with the broader admissions team in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Diversity Recruitment and Admissions, develop and maintain mechanisms for sharing progress and outcomes with internal and external stakeholders.

5% Data and Reporting
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret student data, identify trends in the data, report out to appropriate constituents, and make data-informed decisions, while ensuring FERPA/FOIA compliance surrounding student data utilizing Business Objects and MPathways content.
  • Generate reports on recruitment metrics and trends, providing insights for continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the development and authoring of comprehensive annual reports.
  • Hire, train, and supervise temporary staff in support of recruiting and work in the new transfer program.

5% Service, Learning & Professional Development
  • Support the mission and goals of the school and the strategic priorities of the Dean.
  • Serve on school, university or professional organization committees/boards.
  • Invest in individual commitments to support diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Participate in a variety of professional development activities, including maintaining any required professional certification or licensure

Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in higher education recruitment and admissions, or related functional area
  • Experience with developing and launching new projects, programs, or initiatives
  • Experience creating and facilitating presentations for various stakeholders and constituents including students, families, faculty, and staff.
  • Experience promoting college access for diverse populations, including low-income, first-generation, and those traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
  • Experience working with software such as Office, MPathways, Business Objects, ApplyWeb, CollegeNET, database tools, and Google tools or similar sites.

Work Schedule
Punctual, regular, and consistent attendance is required. May require working during non-business hours and on weekends. Some hybrid remote work may be possible, in accordance with UMSI Remote Work Policy. Remote work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change depending upon business needs.
Work Locations
Will require travel to multiple locations on & off campus. Will occasionally provide opportunity for domestic travel.
