Summary:
The Transfer Agency Control Specialist is focused on oversight of operational risk and change management specific to registered funds. Will help drive measurable improvements in operational productivity and client service quality. This individual is a seasoned, multi-disciplinary expert with extensive business and/or technical knowledge in above core area. Carries out the most complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues. Consistently displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the rest of NT's Asset Servicing organization to resolve issues, improve efficiency and productivity. Uses specific knowledge of a discipline to achieve goals through own work. Uses expertise to provide guidance to others as a project lead or consultant. Leads others to solve complex problems.
The Specialist is responsible for providing support and oversight of the operational control environment for the registered funds space. Focus is on improving productivity, fostering a strong control environment, working towards minimizing operational risk, with a goal to drive efficiency, standardization and best practices. The Specialist consistently displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective across the Global Fund Services NA Operations business disciplines, collaborating with the business leads and relevant Northern Trust counterparts to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.

15+ years of experience in financial and operational services focused on registered fund complexes along with trust and asset services knowledge. Experience with U.S. mutual fund products and associated operations preferred, including fund administration, Transfer Agency, regulatory and/or compliance functions.

Major Duties:
- Execution of the thematic reviews required to provide assurance to business leadership of control effectiveness surrounding internal processes, procedures, and client specific servicing deliverables
- Displays a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to improve efficiency, effectiveness and productivity
- Advise and assist on implementing a structured and control framework, ensuring adherence to maintaining processes in accordance with the highest standards and best practices
- Ensures that the standards and policies are effective and adhered to across the business practices and any deficiencies are actioned
- Ensure proper preventative and detective controls are in place for business functions and drive recommendations to strengthen control weaknesses
- Focus of role is on execution of strategic direction of business function activities
- Carries out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues
- Trend analysis across various facets to determine improved productivity, best practices, risk mitigation and client satisfaction
- Measures inherited risk vs current and new risk aligned with incident management, ASL, process change, new products and optimization
Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of the line of business discipline including its strategic goals, associated products and supporting operational functions.
- Knowledge of risk management techniques and proven ability to identify and assess risk in business processes, migration activity and new products.
- Knowledge of industry regulatory changes/requirements and policy guidelines.
- Communication and analytical skills are necessary to consult with partners/clients throughout the organization.
- Professional with extensive business experience, multi-disciplinary functional experience with a focus on strengthening the foundation, supporting the growth and core, managing change and protecting the revenue.
