The Connecticut Small Business Development Center (CTSBDC) is seeking a Facilitator for its Immigrant Entrepreneurship Support Program. The objective of the Immigrant Entrepreneurship program is to assist new residents of Connecticut interested in starting or working to establish their business with appropriate guidance and support to achieve their goals and help them build sustainable businesses. The Training and Learning Facilitator will assist with the planning, delivery, and evaluation of this program while establishing and cultivating collaborative relationships with relevant immigration centers in Connecticut.

This is a full-time position with a flexible work schedule depending on program needs. As a temporary (Special Payroll) position, it does not offer benefits. Incumbents can access some benefits on a fee basis. For more information, please see: https://hr.uconn.edu/employee-benefits-overview/.

This position will report to the CTSBDC State Director or Associate Director with a work location in East Hartford, CT.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting CTSBDC’s staff in coordinating and implementing training programs and other support required to achieve program objectives.
  • Teaching and facilitating training efforts on topics related to entrepreneurship, business development focusing on the immigrant community.
  • Establishing and cultivating collaborative relationships with relevant immigration centers in Connecticut.
  • Performing related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, business, communication, sociology, psychology or other relevant topics.
  • Two years of project management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience planning, organizing, and executing events.
  • Experience working with diverse populations in a multicultural environment and sensitivity to cross-cultural differences.

APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is a full-time temporary position for an initial period of six months, with the possibility of extension dependent upon program needs and available funding.
