Job Classification: Full-time, exempt, remote

About Right To Be

Right To Be is a global, people-powered movement to build a world that is free of harassment and filled with humanity. We believe that it’s through small actions, happening everywhere, that culture can shift. Our work focuses on turning the care we have for each other into simple, creative, effective action. Every day, we train hundreds of people to respond to, intervene in, and heal from harassment. We hold space for people experiencing harassment to share their stories for affirmation and support. And we prepare new leaders to create workplaces, schools, and communities around the world that are filled with humanity. So that we can all be who we are, wherever we are.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director for Training, Training and Facilitation Specialists are responsible for delivering quality training experiences to a variety of audiences using proven methodologies from Right To Be’s expanding training library. Our current training topics include bystander intervention, preventing sexual harassment, resilience, conflict de-escalation, mitigating implicit bias, and other anti-harassment/anti-hate trainings.

This position is remote with an optional Brooklyn-based office. Travel for In-Person trainings and team retreats is required, and you should expect to travel between 30-40% of any given month. Based on organizational need, you will at times need to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Training and Facilitation Specialists are responsible for:

Training and Customization (~60%)

  • Training Delivery. You will facilitate interactive and engaging training from our suite of offerings, including bystander intervention training, preventing sexual harassment, resilience, conflict de-escalation, and others. Training sessions are currently delivered virtually and in-person. In our free public training series, you will need to effectively inspire longer term engagement with the organization, including getting people to join our email list, share their story, or donate.
  • Client discovery and Training Customization. You will facilitate discussions with our amazing clients, enabling you to customize our existing training curricula to their needs. Thoughtful customization enhances learning outcomes and increases the likelihood that people will use what you teach them.
  • Exceptional Customer Service. Our clients help to drive the work and the reach of our organization! You will be expected to work towards consistent positive client experiences by ensuring timely, responsive, and respectful communication and representing Right To Be values within client relationships.
  • Soliciting Client Feedback and Celebrating Success. Trainers work to ensure our ongoing departmental progress by dispersing evaluations after every training engagement. This includes soliciting quotes or feedback to be utilized in future organizational efforts. That feedback is then consolidated into a training report that demonstrates the impact of the training -- and is distributed to all clients after the training is completed.

Continuous Improvement (~20%)

  • Reporting and Analysis. Timely, complete, and accurate reporting is an important way we track departmental impact and performance. You will be responsible for reporting a variety of training-related metrics in accordance with organizational processes and practices. You will also need to be able to assess this data and use it to chart a growth path for your professional development.
  • Iterate and Improve Curriculum. Using what you learn in working with the general public and our clients, you will assist in the development of trainings and maintenance/improvement of our existing training library. You will also support the development of new content area training, including participating in the review, feedback, and testing cycles in partnership with the Instructional Design and Innovation team.
  • Expand your Expertise. We have over 40 curricula at Right To Be, and expect our trainers to be onboarded to at least 50% of them after 6 months of employment, and then to continue to onboard into at least one new curriculum per month. Each curriculum takes about 12 hours to onboard into. In addition, trainers are given time to pursue relevant professional development to develop and deepen subject matter expertise.

Team Engagement Other Activities (~20%)

  • Participate in department and organizational meetings and retreats. Department meetings are weekly, and organizational meetings are 2x per month. We also have all staff retreats 2x per year that are mandatory.
  • Weekly supervision. All our trainers are provided weekly time to check in 1:1 with their supervisor. During these meetings we discuss priorities, goals, and there is an opportunity for managers to provide the trainers with feedback, and visa versa.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Executive Team.

Qualifications: (must have 80%)

  • At least 2 years experience facilitating interactive trainings;
  • At least 1 year experience working with at least one of the target populations: working professionals/corporate environments, youth, LGBTQIA+ or other historically marginalized communities,
  • Excellent communication and Facilitation skills.
  • A problem solver who is flexible and eager to give, receive, and integrate feedback.
  • Demonstrated client relationship management skills.
  • Professionalism, including punctuality and adherence to deadlines.
  • Ability to publicly represent Right To Be and serve as the “ambassador” for our mission, culture, and values.
  • A high degree of emotional intelligence, including the ability to proactively and directly address conflict in an effective and altruistic way.
  • A leader who enjoys working in a highly-collaborative, team environment; demonstrated ability to work well across departments who is always seeking out opportunities to advance the organizational mission and improve on team process and structure.

Requirements (80% of the following):

  • Work experience as a trainer, facilitator, or similar learning and development role.
  • A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Experience delivering training in the areas of bystander intervention, sexual harassment prevention, gender-based violence, or other related topics.
  • Experience delivering training in a corporate environment, on any topic.
  • Excellent communication and Facilitation skills.
  • Strong intersectional analysis and commitment to social justice.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for Right To Be's mission.
  • Excellent presentation skills, incorporating relevant technology (Zoom and Google Slides, for example).
  • Comfortable with dealing with ambiguity in high stakes, fast-paced, rapidly changing environments
  • Previous experience working in a fully remote environment preferred
  • Able to be engaging, inclusive, and learner focused while facilitating training sessions, in both in-person and in virtual settings
  • Excited to travel to engage with our clients—the heartbeat of our business model—and represent our mission boldly

DO YOU THINK THIS MIGHT BE YOU?

If you see yourself in this job description but don’t feel like you meet every single criteria, we encourage you to apply anyway!
