Duties, Responsibilities & Other
KCI's goal is to prepare students for starting a successful career in one of the many diverse service areas including: Engineering (civil, electrical, environmental, fire protection, geotechnical, mechanical, structural, utilities, transportation, water resources), Construction Management, Surveying, Industrial Security, Safety and Risk management, Environmental Planning and Natural Resource Management and Restoration. This position specifically is with the Nashville Transportation group. The selected candidate will gain experience with traffic studies, transportation planning, and traffic design including traffic signals and multimodal design.

- Receive hands-on work experience in a variety of field and office environments
- Develop knowledge of KCI service, and the engineering consulting industry
- Network with a diverse group of talented individuals
- Build relationships across the company
- Identify and strengthen skills and career interests
- Attain an overview of the opportunities within KCI
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a college Engineering program.
- MicroStation or AutoCAD skills desired but not required.
- No experience required.
- Minimum GPA 3.0
- Pre-employment drug screening is a condition of employment. Background and motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
Performance Expectations
- Complete Annual Individual Training Program
- Comply with all KCI policies and procedures
- Coordinate with other practices and sub-consultants as required
- Ensure projects fulfill ISO compliance requirements
- Complete other duties as required/assigned
- Achieve or exceed budgeted individual utilization target(85% typical)
- Attend bi-weekly(or more frequently as necessary) meetings with project team on all projects/tasks
- Complete all tasks on time and within budget while fully meeting the scope
- Operate within specified (corporate or project) budget parameters
- Assist with preliminary concept designs and submit for approval
- Compare field data to base plan
- Conduct site visits and gather data, including measurements, sketches, notes and photographs as needed
- Prepare design calculations, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for review and approval
- Review and approve shop drawings
