William A. Hazel, Inc., a total site development contractor for over 50 years, is looking for a Traffic Controller. This position reports to and is under the direction of the Punch Foreman. William A. Essential Functions
- Always face oncoming traffic and always maintain situational awareness.
- Never leave their position until they are relieved.
- Know where crew members and equipment are, be aware of changes, and never stand among workers and equipment.
- Be courteous, yet professional, especially in stressful conditions.
- Minimize conversations with motorists and pedestrians.
- Be positioned to compensate for limited sight distance, to provide maximum advance warning, and always remain clearly visible to traffic.
- Maintain continuous communication with any other flaggers.
- Try to maintain color contrast with background; consider sun glare on motorist.
- Establish eye contact with drivers to whom they must give directions.
- Use retroreflective signaling devices during the night.
- Identify an escape path in the event of an errant vehicle.
- Have a method to alert the crew in the event of an errant vehicle.
Requirements
- MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN
- Must pass Flagging Certification training.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in high precarious places and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
