SUMMARY:
The Track Photographer will take pictures during race events to include action shots from each driver as well as on-track and fan activity. All photos taken by the Track Photographer are the property of Bowman Gray Stadium and will be subject to review before publication.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Primary responsibilities:
- Attend race events and track days to photograph various motorsport activities, including practice sessions, qualifying rounds, and races.
- Capture compelling images of race cars, drivers, pit crews, spectators, and other elements of the racing environment.
- Use professional photography equipment, including DSLR cameras, lenses, and accessories, to achieve high-quality images in various lighting conditions.
- Focus on capturing action-packed moments such as overtakes, crashes and checkered flag finishes to convey the intensity and excitement of racing.
- Identify key moments and highlights during races, including podium celebrations, victory laps, and post-race interviews, and document them through photographs.
- Take portraits of drivers, teams, and sponsors in the paddock area or pit lane, capturing their personalities and the camaraderie of the racing community.
- Coordinate with drivers and teams to schedule portrait sessions and ensure their participation in photo opportunities throughout the event.
- Edit and retouch photographs using photo editing software to enhance image quality, correct exposure, and adjust colors as needed.
- Organize and catalog photo files, maintaining a well-organized digital library of images for easy access and retrieval.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); prior experience in digital photography techniques, including composition, exposure, and image editing; experience in sports photography, preferably with a focus on motorsports or action sports; technical proficiency in photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Ability to edit and update photos using Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom or similar software.
