Position:Tourism ManagerUK and Europe

Visit Seattle is seeking a Tourism ManagerUK and Europe to join our dedicated team of professionals. In this role, you'll be responsible for promoting Seattle and King County to specific European markets, including the UK/Ireland, German-speaking Europe, France, and Benelux. You'll work closely with our in-market agencies and international travel trade and media partners. This position primarily focuses on international market development, managing in-market agencies, organizing familiarization tours and media visits to Seattle, coordinating sales and marketing initiatives, participating in tradeshows and sales missions, and other promotional efforts.

What You'll Do:

  • Promote Seattle and King County as a top leisure destination in assigned markets, overseeing all activities.
  • Serve as Visit Seattle's in-house expert on assigned markets, using research and current events to inform management and partners.
  • Maintain daily communication and collaboration with international in-market representatives and customers in assigned markets.
  • Evaluate and execute marketing and promotional opportunities, managing budgets and assets.
  • Plan and execute inbound familiarization tours and press trips, handling logistics and coordination.
  • Organize outbound travel, sales trips, missions, and trade show participation.
  • Collaborate with State of Washington Tourism and Port of Seattle to achieve shared goals.
  • Advocate for tourism development efforts to Visit Seattle's partners and other destination marketing organizations.
  • Utilize Visit Seattle's database, Simpleview, for tracking data and client information.
  • Stay informed about partner properties, attractions, and services.
  • Assume project management responsibilities in the absence of the Director.
  • Fulfill information and image requests as needed.
  • Manage miscellaneous projects as required.

Who We're Looking For:

The ideal candidate is an experienced travel professional with strong communication and relationship-building skills. We seek someone with a solid background in the travel trade, a robust industry network, and a passion for Seattle and the travel industry. This role involves interactions with domestic and international travel professionals and media, some of whom may not be native English speakers.


You should also have:

  • 3+ years of experience in the travel industry or travel trade, with preference given to candidates with experience in assigned markets.
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and handle stressful situations with discretion.
  • A creative approach to marketing and promotion.
  • Proficiency in client relationship management.
  • Public speaking skills for small and large groups.
  • Experience in developing and delivering presentations.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • A strong service-oriented approach.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, internet research, MS Outlook, and basic database software.
  • Knowledge of general office machinery and procedures.
  • Valid driver's license and passport for domestic and international travel.


Who You'll Work With:

You'll collaborate with the Director of International Tourism, departmental Coordinators, and Managers. You'll also interact with other departments, including Partnership, Marketing, and Public Relations.
