We are looking to fill more open Carriage Driver positions at Carriage Tours of Savannah!
All positions are full or part time. Availability on holidays, evenings and weekends are a must! We are busy, busy, busy & need help keeping up!
- Tour guides will go through our full paid training program which lasts approximately 6-8 weeks, depending on dedication to training. You will learn all aspects of horse driving, harnessing, key components of horse health, and how to narrate a history and a ghost story tour while driving our wonderful horses through the historic district. Outgoing, positive personalities are best for this position. The paid training hourly rate is $11.
- After your training is complete, tips range from $75-$150 per day average, IN ADDITION to the $11 hourly rate. Tips are commensurate with your job performance. If you go out there and have a great time, entertain, and exhibit excellent driving skills, you can make excellent tips! Holiday cash incentives and hourly increases available based on job performance & longevity.
This is a great job, but it is hard work. If you don't mind getting a little dirty, a little sweaty and putting in effort, this is literally tons of fun working with giant draft horses!
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
You must be able to train a minimum of 4 days per week, including weekends. Upon completion of training can work a minimum of 2 days per week or as many as 5! All new hires must be available to work our evening shift (5pm- 11pm), as well as weekends and holidays.This is a tourist based industry, so we work when our visitors are here! As a guide & Carriage Driver you will:
- Conduct guided tours for visitors, providing them with an informative and engaging experience
- Communicate historical, cultural, and factual information about the historic district
- Utilize public speaking skills to captivate and entertain tour groups of varying sizes
- Educate visitors on the significance and highlights of the historic district
- Manage time effectively to ensure that tours run smoothly and adhere to scheduled timelines
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing questions, concerns, and special requests from tour participants
- Lead tour groups with confidence and professionalism, ensuring a positive and memorable experience for all
- provide excellent care for the horses, attending to their various needs, including water, taking temps & ensuring adequate breaks

- Ability to educate and inform visitors about the tour site's history, culture, or other relevant topics
- Excellent time management skills to keep tours on schedule
- Multilingual abilities are a plus, as it allows for communication with a broader range of visitors
- Leadership qualities to confidently guide and manage tour groups
- Bilingual skills are an advantage in order to cater to visitors who speak different languages
- Exceptional customer service skills to address inquiries, concerns, and special requests from visitors
