Job Description
The Boat Captain drives and guides boat tours of Lake Lure and provides narration to guests about the history of Lake Lure, Hickory Nut Gorge, Chimney Rock, and surrounding areas.
Essential Job Duties
- Assists guests with rental equipment and marina/cabana activities.
- Maintains cleanliness of marina and related facilities in accordance with company policies.
- Operates daily boating events and performs public speaking duties as required.
- Performs routine daily maintenance and cleanliness of all boats.
- Communicates daily with Cabana staff regarding reservations and special events.
- Ensures that marina and boat usage rules are maintained to ensure guest and Associate safety.
- Maintains adequate supplies in the marina.
Other Duties
- Performs other related duties as directed by the Outdoor Venue Manager.

Requirements:- High School or equivalent
- Certified CPR, Lifesaving Certificate and/or First Aid Certificate preferred.
- Ability to acquire a NC Boater Safety license.
- Excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, drive and motivation.
- Flexible schedule with ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Experience operating boats preferred, but not required.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to talk, hear and speak with others using clear and professional language.
- Must be able to endure long periods of sitting, standing or walking in a hot, humid environment.
- Will be occasionally required to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 15 pounds without assistance.
- Must be able to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping and use hands and fingers to handle, or feel.
- Drive vehicle for performance of duties.
