Job Description
Job and Talent are seeking a Tooling Engineer to build and repair all types, sizes, and shapes of jigs, fixtures, tools, gauges, and dies. Assemble and try out complete tools and dies, trouble shoot tooling for repairs and modifications.
2nd shift - 2pm to 11pm Monday to Friday
3rd shift - 3pm to 11pm Sunday to Thursday
Pay: $23 - 32/HR (based off experience)
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or Equivalency
Minimum 3 years of experience in tooling trade.
Some technical training, including basic blueprint reading, shop math.
Skills, Knowledge and Competencies:
Ability to locate and pull dies scheduled for maintenance and repair, open dies inspect for defects, clean and polish cavities, surfaces and parting line surfaces.
Ability to check water lines for breaks, blockage and free flow and install replacement fittings as recessary.
Ability to replace bent or broken ejector and punch pins.
Ability to troubleshoot minor tool problems.
Ability to perform various die welding operations as necessary to repair and modify tools.
Ability to prepare reports of repair activities as required.
Knowledge of and ability to follow safety program.
Ability to operate toolroom equipment, welding equipment, various hand tools, hydraulic presses, EDM machine. Trim Die repair.
Troubleshoot dimensional issues; read prints; layouts and gauges to determine proper repairs.
Maintain die cast dies for back up.
Prepare dies/cavities for shipment to outside tool vendor; which includes removing die cavities from retainer whenever possible

Duties and Responsibilities:
Reads and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted. Welds parts as required.
Determines specifications for inspection of work, using precision measuring and gauging tools, performing required inspection before during and after machining.
Performs hand operations involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools, and dies. Uses hand tools of the trade.
Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools and dies. Tests dies to produce a product to specifications, tracing die difficulties to their source and correcting same.
Assists maintenance and set-up personnel in the repair and maintenance of tooling and equipment.
May work with product designers and customers providing input to manufacturing capability on newly formed products. Repair variety of dies and cavities meeting accuracy requirements determining techniques and making decisions on metals, allowances, mechanism detail, fit and assembly.
Attention to detail in performing work, checking work, and documenting to assure quality, under the supervision of the designated group lead.
Works in a safe and efficient manner with good housekeeping practices.
