Job Title: Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program Coordinator
Level/Salary Range: $18-$22 per hour DOE
Reports to: Executive Director
Location: Headquarters
Travel Required: Yes - within the state of Arkansas
Position Type: Part-time, Non-Exempt
THIS POSITION IS BASED UPON AN EXTERNALLY FUNDED SOURCE. HENCE, IF THAT CONTRACT CEASES, THIS POSITION WILL AS WELL.
GRANT PURPOSE
Future Builders' Tobacco Prevention and Cessation program focuses on the dangerous effects of the use of tobacco products among disparate groups, including women who are pregnant and those who are HIV positive, smoking, mental health, aging, and counter-marketing the glamorization of smoking.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Program Coordinator will work with the Executive Director to identify and perform activities throughout the Ashley, Bradley, Cleveland, Drew, Grant, Jefferson, and Lincoln counties. The job involves administrative functions, requires comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local guidelines, regulations, and laws regarding tobacco, and requires essential communication skills to effectively work with community partners, physicians, school staff, and individuals at other agencies.
Other essential job functions include being able to:

  1. Travel weekly to target counties - Ashley, Bradley, Cleveland, Drew, Grant, Jefferson, and Lincoln. (Mileage reimbursement provided)
  2. Initiate and maintain community partnerships with all levels of organizations.
  3. Lead the development of health education and training presentations for specific age and target groups.
  4. Coordinate promotion of program activities in schools, neighborhoods, and workplaces.
  5. Utilize well-developed oral communication and presentation skills for public speaking and face-to-face interactions.
  6. Develop expertise in evidence-based or best-practice Tobacco Prevention and Cessation protocols.
  7. Develop and implement programming to meet objectives set within the Tobacco Prevention and Cessation grant.
  8. Review and interpret relevant tobacco data to prioritize activities.
  9. Create and maintain social media campaigns throughout the grant year to reach target populations on various social media platforms.
  10. Assist in designing, producing, and disseminating collateral marketing materials (letters, brochures, and flyers).
  11. Work closely with Education and other departments to provide culturally appropriate programs, materials, and Tobacco Prevention activities for disparate groups.
  12. Work with individuals interested in quitting by supporting that initiative and connecting to state support.
  13. Maintain, track, and analyze program data to determine the appropriate interventions for unique target populations and work with management to develop more effective referral pathways based on analysis findings.
  14. Attend all required meetings with funding agencies and other local coalition groups.
  15. Regularly provide feedback to the Executive Director and other stakeholders on community priorities, needs, and barriers to help catalyze the development of projects and needed community programs.
  16. Develop positive relationships with the community, coworkers, supervisor, health/organization professionals, and clients.
  17. Attend clinic huddles and meetings as appropriate to market programs, communicate progress, and gather input/feedback for improvement.
  18. Track, maintain, and analyze patient data to determine the appropriate interventions for unique patient populations and work with management to develop more effective referral pathways based on analysis findings.
  19. May need to work weekends, evenings, outside regular business hours, and outdoors at outreach events.
  20. Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Have at minimum an Associate's Degree in any field.
  • Demonstrate one (1) year of community health or population health experience.
  • Have one (1) year experience working with the public in the public health education field.
  • Demonstrate experience with Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint) programs and/or other relevant software to meet the program's needs.
  • Demonstrate experience with Social Media platforms.
  • Must be detail-oriented, well-organized, and able to multi-task while accurately completing position-related activities.
  • Show excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to speak before groups.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must submit to and pass a reference and criminal background check.
  • Have a Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) certification is highly preferred (but not required).
  • Have experience working with a grant, grant objectives, and reporting.
  • Show organized data management skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to travel within the state of Arkansas.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Must be able to perform the basic life operational skills of lifting, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to perform sedentary work and exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and or a negligible amount of force to move objects.
  • Must possess the visual understanding to work with data and figures, to read extensively, and to operate a computer.
