Title IX Deputy Coordinator
Role Mission: The Deputy Title IX Coordinator will assist the Title IX Coordinator coordinate and facilitate the organization's compliance to Title IX of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This role will assist with Implementing training and providing guidance pertaining to sexual harassment, sexual discrimination, and harassment prevention. The Deputy Coordinator will assist the Title IX Coordinator with ensuring that faculty, staff, and students know their rights and responsibilities according to the federal laws and guidance. This role will also be responsible at times for investigating and managing sexual harassment and discrimination cases regarding IDEA students and employees, company policy violations, and other employee relations matters. The Deputy Coordinator/Investigator works collaboratively to deliver efficient and systematic resolution to investigations as needed. This role will collaborate with campus and district leadership to implement supportive measures and ensure campuses are compliant with Title IX.   • Language for national roles: This is a full-time (remote/on-site) position based in (Texas/Louisiana/Florida/Arkansas/Ohio) with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.
  • Language for regional roles: This is a full-time (remote/on-site) position located in (Region). Preference will be given to candidates who live in the (Region), or who are willing to relocate.

What You'll Do - Accountabilities
Essential Duties:
  • Coordinate and Manage IDEA Title IX student related compliance and monitoring.
  • Develop a deep and comprehensive knowledge of the federal Title IX
  • Serve as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
  • Assist with the overall implementation of Title IX for the school districts, with a focus on incidents between students.
  • Assist with IDEA's overall compliance with Title IX in all areas by the implementing regulations, specifically in the areas of bullying, sexual harassment, child abuse, and discrimination.
  • Coordinate a routine mechanism with regional leadership to ensure Title IX obligations are met.
  • Implement and maintain the district sexual harassment policy, this includes annual review with revisions in existing policies.
  • Assist campus leaders in complying with Title IX through monitoring and evaluating practices and making recommendations for any appropriate changes.
  • Maintain grievance protocol and procedures for students, parents, and staff to comprehend and follow.
  • Oversee, coordinate, and ensure investigations of reports and complaints are adequate, reliable, timely confidential and impartial.
  • Provide prompt resolutions to complaints as they occur.
  • Work with HR's own Title IX team to ensure alignment in legal interpretation and approach.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conducts thorough and impartial investigations comprising background research, investigative interviews, and debrief meetings in partnership with organizational stakeholders.
  • Prepares written investigative reports by reviewing, summarizing, and analyzing relevant information collected during investigations; prepares and maintains logs, completed reports, and other documentation; provides information to management as appropriate.
  • Prepares effective investigative plans. Collects and analyzes witness statements and documentary evidence.

  • Support Title IX Coordinator, In House Counsel, and Superintendent/CEO with reports to stakeholders, including the Board of Directors on Title IX compliance and processes.

  • Knowledge of Title IX
  • Ability to train/ present to large audiences.
  • Ability to provide effective and appropriate technical advice and expertise to all levels within the organization.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional policies and practices specific to the applicable compliance specialty.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze claims information and to draw reasoned, supported conclusions.
  • Advanced analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively summarize and present information.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
  • Skill in coordinating the work of a wide array of individuals, many of whom are not direct reports.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Conflict resolution and/or mediation skills.
  • Knowledge of federal and state public safety reporting requirements and other applicable crime data reporting.
  • Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging legislation, issues, and trends as appropriate to the position.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous quality improvement.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment and demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students, and visitors to the university.

Required experience:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience investigating and resolving allegations of discrimination, harassment sexual misconduct/sexual violence or in administering and coordinating a comprehensive program addressing Title IX compliance.
  • 1-3 years' experience implementation Title IX policies and procedures
  • Experience in education, human resources, or a regulatory compliance setting.

Preferred experience:
  • Education: Master's degree in social work, psychology, public policy, human resources, legal studies, or a closely related field or a Juris Doctorate.
  • Prior Title IX training and certifications
  • Bilingual preferred

Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting and remaining in a seated position
  • Alternate sitting or standing at will.
  • Withstand extended time period of looking at a computer/laptop screen.
  • Entering text or data into a computer by means of a traditional keyboard

Compensation & Benefits:
Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $73,900 and $90,200, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
