TITLE I INTERVENTION PARAPRO
JOB GOALS: Provide instructional support in a program supported with Title I, Part A funds, either in a school-wide program or directly under a target-assisted program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
  • Ability to assist students with academic tasks (demonstrated competency in writing, math, reading, etc.).
  • Communicate effectively with staff, students and parents.
  • Ability to work well within a team structure.
  • Ability to work with all learners.
  • Willingness to initiate communications with teachers, and the building principal regarding student progress.
  • Providing instructional assistance in a computer laboratory.
  • Providing support in a library or media center.
  • Reinforcing instruction by assisting the teacher in administering drill activities for individuals or small groups.
  • Complementing instructional activities, such as assisting the teacher during the lesson by helping students who may need additional support with instruction.
  • Supplementing instruction by assisting the teacher with individuals or small groups of pupils on follow-up activities as specified.
  • Providing instructional support services under the supervision of a teacher.
  • Attending monthly Grade-Level Intervention Meetings.
  • Attending Title I-related Professional Staff Development Activities -- with approval from the Building Principal.
  • Helping to complete the Title I Intervention Assistant Program Evaluation.
  • Assisting teachers in proctoring state assessments (M-STEP) in a classroom/lab setting.
  • Accurately completing time and effort logs documenting daily activities noting specific activities and students being supported.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently walking and standing while performing the duties of this job. In addition, the employee may frequently bend or twist at the neck and back while performing the duties of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and close vision such as to read typewritten material.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required
  • MUST be "Highly Qualified" having completed 60 or more college credits or a passing score of 460 on the ETS Parapro Assessment.
