POSITION DESCRIPTION: TITLE I TUTOR (Part-time)
Reports to: Title I Teacher
Type. Part-Time, Temporary, 10 months
Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Department: EC
Direct Reports: None
Office Hours: 15-20 hours per week as scheduled by the department
Position Summary
Responsible for individualized assistance for students in grades K-8 in reading and math under the direction of the Title I Teacher and EC Director.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Identify specific intended learning outcomes which are challenging, meaningful and measurable.
  • Provide planned learning experiences that encourage and motivate students, utilize best
  • practices, and are developmentally appropriate
  • Revise plans based on student needs
  • Select and utilize appropriate instructional material, aids, and supplies that assist in the development of innovative, well-organized units of study, and that are appropriate to the intellectual and instructional level of students from varied backgrounds and who possess a range of mental and emotional maturity
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents to deliver and manage learning experiences for all students
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues and administrators regarding student learning and progress.
  • Actively participate in grade level and/or department-wide PLC(s) as invited.
  • Oversee proper stewardship of school resources and management of student records in accordance with FERPA and IDEA.
  • Promptly respond to all communications within 48 hours.
Education, Licenses & Experience Requirements
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in education and/or a related field.
Preferred
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of North Carolina Professional Educator’s License.
  • Master’s Degree in reading, math, or curriculum content areas.
Knowledge, Skills, & Attributes
  • Ability to identify, quantify, and address student needs and academic performance and programs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), PowerSchool, Google Docs and apps, and related technology.
  • Able to support and articulate the school’s mission, goals and objectives in a positive and inspirational manner.
  • Can express ideas clearly and use language to build common understanding.
  • Aligns resources to accomplish key objectives and assigns clear accountability for important objectives. Achieves meaningful accomplishments.

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions
This position requires:
  • Normal periods of sitting and standing in a classroom.
  • Extended periods of standing and walking on school campus.
  • Reaching with hands and arms and operating hand-held and desktop office equipment on a regular basis.
  • Lifting and/or pushing objects up to 20 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Assisting students with tasks such as eating, using the bathroom/changing diapers, and moving from one classroom to another (if applying for a Lower Academy or EC Teacher position).
  • Assisting other staff members in lifting/moving students up to 100 lbs. on a regular basis (if applying for an EC Teacher position).
  • Normal vision (with or without correction).
  • Normal hearing (with or without correction).
Majority of work is performed inside an office building and temperature controlled. Level of noise is usually typical to a classroom setting.
