We are seeking an experienced and skilled Tile Setter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating quality pool surfaces and possess exceptional supervisory skills.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, assign, and direct work to achieve desired patterns and designs.
- Cut, shape, and set tiles, including hard tile, glass tile, and marble, to create decorative wall, mural, and floor designs.
- Align and straighten tiles using levels, squares, and straightedges.
- Apply mortar, plaster, concrete, and other adhesives to form a bed for the tiles.
- Finish joints, wipe excess grout, and apply sealant to make grout stain- and water-resistant.
- Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles, ensuring a seamless finish.
- Inspect equipment, structures, and materials to ensure they meet quality standards.
- Provide creative input and solutions to design challenges.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in tile setting.
- High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D).
- CTEF certification preferred.
- Valid California Driver’s License and driving record meeting insurance qualifications.
Skills:
- Strong critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills.
- Technical proficiency in tile setting, including cutting, shaping, and applying various materials.
- Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Time management skills, with the ability to manage your time and the time of others effectively.
- Knowledge of building and construction, English language proficiency required. Mathematics, design, and customer service skills are preferred.
- Familiarity with various tools and equipment, including trowels, plaster or mortar mixers, scaffolding, floats, and levels.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Flexibility to work in various environments, including high, precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, and exposure to chemicals and airborne particles.
