SCM is seeking a talented TIG/MIG Welder/Fabricator to join our team. A qualified candidate will, under general supervision, weld various types of metal parts, frames, and machined assemblies. This position reports to the Fabrication Supervisor.
Job Skills to include:
- Reading and interpreting engineering prints and/or manufacturing bills of material, and/or verbal/written instructions to determine necessary requirements for the job.
- Select welding procedures best suited for the type of work and materials involved.
- Use various techniques to obtain proper penetration, fusion and strength, offset distortion and maintain alignment.
- Assemble/weld parts in jigs or fixtures as required.
- Use appropriate measuring tools to inspect and verify conformance of parts to specifications/tolerances.
- Strictly follow all safety requirements for welding, forklift truck, hoist operations and housekeeping.
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge of metallurgical aspects of various types of material.
- Must be a team player, enthusiastic, motivated, and self-driven.
- Regular attendance and daily punctuality are required.
- High School diploma or GED. Technical school welding certification training preferred.
- Ability to read mechanical engineering drawings.
- Press Brake experience a plus.
- Knowledge of various grinding/weld finishing tools.
- Sufficient physical strength to lift various materials weighing 50 pounds.
- Knowledge of precision measuring procedures.
- Good organizational skills.
