Job description

Job Description

Who we are:

Kids FIRST is an Accredited Children's Advocacy Center with a mission of providing intervention and advocacy for children who are victims of, or witnesses to, crime. We do this by providing comprehensive intervention and treatment services to child victims of abuse and their non-offending family members. Children are referred to us directly by our community partners, which include law enforcement, DHS Child Welfare, and medical professionals. We provide a warm, child-focused setting where children can receive support, be forensically interviewed, receive a medical exam, and if necessary even testify in front of a grand jury - all under one roof - to reduce the number of times a child has to talk about what happened to them.

We're a dynamic team of professionals, including medical, advocacy, forensic interviewers and more, and we have been named one of the Best 100 Nonprofits to Work for in Oregon three years running. As an employer, we value continued growth and learning, and champion continued professional development. We've recently expanded our service offerings to include evidence-based therapy in an effort to better meet the needs of the children and families we serve. This position will report directly to the Executive Director and is based in our office in Eugene, Oregon. $4,000 signing bonus available!

Who you are:

We are looking for a Therapy Director to supervise and grow our new onsite, evidence-based therapy program. This small but mighty team consists of just one provider and one coordinator, in addition to the Therapy Director. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a collaborative multidisciplinary team, bringing your supervisory and program management expertise while still getting to provide direct services to child clients and their families (15-17 billable hours per week).

At a minimum you have:

  • A Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a mental health field, psychology, counseling, social work, or a related field. Oregon Licensure is required.
  • Five years of responsible professional mental health experience, including experience working with a population that has experienced trauma.
  • Experience supervising other providers and programming.
  • Experience working with child victims of abuse is preferred.

You also have the following professional competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proven ability to implement vision, think strategically, creatively problem solve, exercise good judgment and lead change.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, aspirations of Kids FIRST.

We are most interested in finding the right candidate, and we know that background and experiences can vary. If you feel your skills and experience meet the above and would add value to our organization, we encourage you to apply! We offer a 5% differential for bilingual English/Spanish therapists.

What you will do:

As the Therapy Director at Kids FIRST, you'll be at the helm of program development, shaping client-centered therapy practices while ensuring seamless accessibility and high-quality care for children. Your role involves staying abreast of the latest evidence-based treatment models, ensuring compliance with National Children's Alliance Standards for Accreditation, and overseeing data collection and reporting. As a therapist, you'll conduct mental health assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide short-term trauma-focused therapy for children and adolescents, actively involving families in the treatment process. Collaboration is key, coordinating with various professionals for the child's emotional, physical, and educational well-being, while also providing crisis intervention, when necessary, as well as facilitating therapeutic groups. Managing and supervising a small team of therapists and interns, you'll oversee their hiring, training, and ongoing development, ensuring adherence to national, state, and local standards. Building and nurturing partnerships with law enforcement, child welfare, assistant district attorneys, and providers across Lane County, offering clinical expertise in multidisciplinary team meetings, and providing professional training will be integral to your role.
