SalaryAt Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch, as Therapeutic Youth Mentor provide one on one mentoring to youth and support for their family in implementing youth’s individualized treatment plan. Support youth in developing and implementing social skills, independent living skills, relational skills, and behavior management/modification techniques. Coaching /teaching/modeling use of effective and appropriate coping skills, social skills, and interpersonal skills.

A Day in the Life of Therapeutic Youth Mentor:
- You will provide one on one relational counseling to the children/youth on their caseload and coaching in areas such as: social skills, independent living skills, age appropriate coping skills, anger management skills and self-esteem building skills following the youth's individual treatment plan.
- You will coordinate schedule to meet the required / requested hours a week for each youth on the caseload ensuring; financial viability is maintained
- You will create and participate in structured community activities/integration with the youth that allows for the practice of skills in a safe, structured setting.
- You will complete required documentation including: entering accurate progress notes into the Electronic Medical Record, tracking hours worked, and weekly updates.
- You will meet with Care Coordinator to provide updates on any issues, concerns, or behaviors that arise with a child/youth on their caseload. Attend TYM meetings monthly.
- You will take the initiative to identify problems and seek out solutions.
- You will participate and engage in monthly supervision/coaching meetings with the supervisor.
- You will participate in required training as appropriate to the position and beneficial to you and YBGR.

What You Need to Qualify:
- Education:: High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum age of 21 years old
- License and/or Certification: License to operate passenger vehicle
- Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to engage a diverse group of participants.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Ability to exercise and model good judgment, teamwork and professionalism, especially in crisis situations and creative about finding solutions for them.
- Criminal / Child Abuse Clearance:Must pass criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana.
Additional Helpful Traits (non-required):
- One year of experience working with youth in a similar setting or environment.
