Job Description
Position Summary
Under general supervision, provides one-on-one behavioral interventions with children and youth receiving specialty mental health. The Therapeutic Mentor Specialist will provide services in the client’s home/residential placement/school and/or during community outings.
Work Functions and Responsibilities
● Provide one on one direct behavioral intervention with children/youth in various environments
● Serves as a positive role model for the child/youth
● Provide time-structured activities
● Provide immediate behavioral reinforcements
● Complete all required documentation
● Attend group supervision
● Ensure the safety of the client at all times
● Provide appropriate time-out strategies (when appropriate)
● Develop behavioral treatment plans with input of treatment team
● Collaboration with and support from the Department of Social Services (and treatment team members) in efforts to provide a positive environment for the child/youth
● Ability to work evening and weekend hours required
● Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
● High School Diploma Some College Preferred in social sciences from accredited university
● Criminal Background Check
● CPR First Aid (must secure prior to case assignment)
● Experience providing case management services to a full range of individuals from youth through adulthood.
● Available to work a flexible work schedule including evenings.
● Superb organizational skills.
● Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with mentally or emotionally disabled persons and their families.
● Must have a current and valid Maryland driver’s license in accordance with Maryland DMV driver’s license eligibility requirements.
● Prior experience working with youth, adolescents, and adults in an urban environment is preferred.
