The Mental Health Tech II will be responsible for
- Providing direct care to adult patients with psychiatric disorders, to ensure the safety and well-being of the patients. Responsible for ensuring the patient's safety on the unit.
- Providing continuous patient care, supervision, interaction, and role modeling to patients through the life span depending on which unit worked.
- Being a preceptor and mentor to new Mental Health Techs.
- Working under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Facilitating department trainings and refreshers.
- Maintaining compliance with all company policies and procedures
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Displays an understanding of the basic concepts of safe, supportive, nurturing, & therapeutic human interactions.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
- Bachelor's degree in psychology or related field strongly preferred. Minimum of a high school graduate or equivalent required.
- Strongly prefer a minimum of three (3) year of experience in a psychiatric hospital setting as a Mental Health Tech.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Certified Behavioral Health Technician (CBHT) preferred. Current BLS and First Aid Certification
- Demonstrates understanding of program and philosophy and is able to interpret and implement patient care.
