Test and Evaluation Engineer POSITION SUMMARY:
- Support the initial qualification and maintain the qualification of a product family of power converters in the aerospace and marine industries.
- The primary listing requirements are UL 1012 and CE mark.
- Select ancillary products are listed through a UL 508A panel builder program.
- Work with design engineers to ensure that designs comply with the certification requirements.
- Manage new product design verification to ensure specified performance requirements.
- Design verification will incorporate testing in accordance with various government specifications and or industry standards.
Test and Evaluation Engineer PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with vendors to perform certification testing on products as per test plans and procedures.
- Maintain test, certification, and listing reports to show the current status of products.
- Maintain the ETL/UL critical parts list and review design changes to ensure that qualification is not affected, or develop a recertification plan if required.
- Generate test procedures and data sheets for use by the Operations Department during final test of production units.
- Generate test plans, test procedures, and lab reports for use by the Engineering Department as part of new product verification.
- Serve as interface with testing laboratories and certification agencies.
Test and Evaluation Engineer EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably electrical, or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in understanding and meeting UL and CE mark certification requirements.
- Experience with testing and evaluating Electromagnetic Interference/Compatibility (EMI/EMC).
- Experience and familiarity with UL (UL1012 and UL508A) and CE Mark standards (EN55011, EN61000, and the Low Voltage Directive).
- Specific experience with MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-461, RTCA DO-160, UL 1012 and the NEC (National Electric Code) is preferred.
- Familiarity with low voltage systems: single phase, split phase, and three phase up to 600 VAC.
- Coordinate and identify test instrumentation necessary to fulfill test plan requirements.
- Ability to process and analyze test data for use in written lab reports and test documentation.
- Ability to interface PC hardware/software with test instrumentation is preferred with exposure to VISA standard, SCPI, TCP/IP, C#, and python.
- Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Attention to detail when writing and releasing documentation.
- Work independently and as part of a team.
- Interpersonal skills: ability to collaborate within cross-functional team and between teams.
- Ability to take personal responsibility for test plans and execution of plans to completion.
- Documented US Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident status.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to climb stairs, sit, bend, use hand tools, keyboard, see, hear and read/speak English fluently.
