Test Director 1

Science Systems and Applications, Inc (SSAI) has an opening on a fully funded NASA project for technical leadership support to the Capture, Containment, and Return System (CCRS) project. SSAI, is seeking a Test Director 1 to support an ongoing effortin Greenbelt, MD under the Electrical Systems Engineering Services III (ESES III) contract at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC).

The ESES III contract is tasked with providing a broad range of engineering and related services to the GSFC Electrical Engineering Directorate as required, for the formulation, design, development, fabrication, integration, testing, verification, and operations of space flight and ground system hardware and software, including development and validation of new technologies in support of NASA’s current and future space flight and ground system projects.

SSAI has a long history at NASA GSFC as a leading provider of science and engineering services throughout all phases of the program life cycle and across the entire space systems architecture, including space and ground assets.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Test Director 1 will provide test direction support to CCRS project which primarily involves leading/helping tactical and strategic planning, scoping of next generation of integration and test requirements for project mission operations. Understanding of spacecraft interface withing subsystems of the project. Continue to provide communication paths across the team while leading test activity. These are delivered to the CCRS Project for implementation/consideration, and by directly supporting the government in reconciling products generated by contractors that support the CCRS project.

Work will be performed primarily onsite at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD and may also include travel to other NASA ground system facilities. This support is to ensure continuity of in-progress CCRS project efforts and planning, and may include but not be limited to the following:

• Ability to lead, assist and coordinate integration and test activities.
• Possess the ability to generate that include I&T plans, Test Procedures, presentations, and Work Order Authorizations (WOA).
• Possess technical expertise and leadership abilities to interact with senior NASA management across the agency.
• Provide team lead leadership to Test Integration Working Groups (TIWG’s).

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering from an accredited institution, or equivalent years of practical experience.
• 10 plus years in a Test Director technical/leadership role supporting mission critical infrastructures.
• Possess significant working knowledge of mission operations, developing studies, and recommending operational improvements.
• US Citizenship required. Must be able to pass a government background investigation.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

Desired Qualifications

• Working knowledge of GSFC engineering development practices.
• Familiarity with NASA policies, workmanship standards and guidelines.
• Knowledge of previously completed and on-going NASA projects, and operational familiarity with NASA.
